Xiaomi Mi TV 2 Review, News: Specs Of Newly Launched Android TV Incl. 49-Inch 4K 3D Panel Plus 64GB Storage; Smart TV Offered For $640

Xiaomi Mi TV 2 review, news: The newest smart TV from the company hailed as the “Apple of China” features a 49-inch 4K 3D panel and storage of up to 64GB, all for just $640.

The company unveiled the successor of its Xiaomi MiTV, it’s first smart TV, earlier this week at an event where they also launched the Xiaomi MiPad. The model is priced at around $640 and comes with a built-in Android (with MIUI TV skin) where you can still side-load other TV apps.

The hardware of the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 includes the earlier mentioned 4K 3D panel, presumably manufactured by either LG or CSOT, within a 6.2mm aluminum bezel. Under the hood is a MediaTek MStar 6A918 quad-core processor that clocks in at 1.45GHz and is powered with 2GB of RAM. The 8GB available storage has microSD support, which can add up to 64GB.

Xiaomi Mi TV 2 also has a Bluetooth LE remote and not the usual infrared version. Engadget also notes that in case you lose the remote in your room, you can tap the bottom of the TV to make the remote beep. You can also install a remote app in your phone, with which you can use gestures and voice to control the TV and read up on the show you’re watching.

The audio feature of the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 is another impressive thing about it. Company CEO Xei Jun said that to keep the TV’s thickness at 15.5mm, the Xiaomi team decided to store the speakers in separate parts: there is a wide audio bar with mid-range and treble drivers, and a Bluetooth subwoofer with the 8-inch driver. The Mi TV 2’s audio kit can also be used with mobile devices via Bluetooth.

The Xiaomi Mi TV 2 will be available for order in China beginning May 27 but the set may not be available internationally.
