Android Silver Release Date, Rumors: LG Tapped To Work On 'Nexus-Like' Smartphone, Packs Snapdragon 801 SoC, Arriving In Sprint In US

Android Silver release date, rumors: A few days ago, notorious leakster EV Leaks tweeted that the Nexus lineup is no more, and in its place would be the Android Silver lineup. While we certainly cannot confirm it yet, this is certainly grave news for those who are fans of the Nexus family, beginning with the first one made by HTC.

However, all good things should come to an end, and the Nexus lineup is not an exception. Good thing, Google would still continue its 'pure Android' lineup, with the Android Silver.

In a report a couple of weeks back, Android Silver would be a type of smartphone which runs pure and stock Android. And unlike previous Nexus devices which only featured one manufacturer at a time, any OEM can work on an Android Silver phone given that it satisfies the requirements.

In a new report by GSM Arena, it looks like LG would be the one who would work on an Android Silver smartphone.

While we do not have solid details about the device, EV Leaks says that the Korean manufacturer is tipped to launch the device in February next year.

Previously known to be the Nexus 6, the first Android Silver device will be manufactured by LG once again, making the Korean tech giant the maker of three 'pure Android' smartphones for three straight years.

In the report, the device would be headed to Sprint in the US, though we expect the device to arrive in other local carriers and countries as well.

Some of the Android Silver's rumored specs include a Snapdragon 805 chipset, and probably a design that is similar to the soon to be announced LG G3.

Google will be holding its I/O event next month, and we certainly expect some confirmed details about this Android Silver device, including availability, specs and pricing.
