PlayStation Now Beta For PS4 Begins Today! Streaming Game Service Extends To PlayStation 4 Users; Public Launch For PS Now Planned For This Summer 2014

PlayStation Now Beta for the PS4 users is now open.

Sony has been running the PlayStation Now beta for the PS3 for a few months already. And today, May 20, the Private Beta for PlayStation Now expands, making its debut on the PlayStation 4 consoles. For gamers who registered for the PlayStation Now Private Beta should check their mail for a voucher code that will give them access to the program.

As described on the US PS Blog, PlayStation Now gives players the "freedom to play select PS3 games like you already stream movies, TV, shows, and music - directly to your favorite PS Now compatible devices without any discs or downloads."  Some of the PS3 games that can be streamed are The Last of Us and God of War: Ascension.

Reportedly, the first supported devices for the PlayStation Now as it launches this 2014 are PS3, PS4 and some 2014 Bravia TVs. Later this year, the PlayStation Now will also be available for PS Vita.

Sharing the success of the PlayStation Now Beta, the post further reads, " The Private Beta program has been going great so far, and we want to give thanks to the testers that have participated - your valuable feedback is helping us make the service even better. Thus far, Private Beta testers have logged more than 50,000 gameplay hours discovering new games, rediscovering favorites and racking up Trophies!"

PlayStation Now was first announced during the 2014 Consumer Electronics Shows, according to Polygon. There is no official PlayStation Now release date yet, but Sony is planning to launch this cloud-based streaming service based on  OnLive rival Gaikai's streaming technology at some point this summer 2014.
