Eva Longoria: Latino Community Is Coming Into Their Own Politically; Eva Longoria Predicts Latino President, Says It is `Inevitable' in U.S.

Eva Longoria says the Latino community is coming into its own politically in the United States. Eva has taken to politics since she left Desperate Housewives. No she's not running for office. But Longoria is being very prescient. At the Cannes film festival, the 39-year old actress said that since America has seen its first black president Eva Longoria has high hopes that the country's first Latino president won't be far behind.

The 39-year old actress said "With the demographic changes in the United States, there's definitely, inevitably going to be a Latino president."

Eva Longoria continues to shut down the red carpet at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival with gorgeous gowns and flawless walk, but Longoria is even more enthusiastic about her newly-launched Latino Victory Project. Eva aims to promote future leaders from the Latino community.

In a Saturday interview, Longoria said Latino Victory Project looks for people "promoting a pro-Latino agenda, pro-immigration, pro-education reform, pro-health care." The group wants to find candidates who are "fighting the fight right now in our politics."

Longoria is aiming to only "represent the right things" in film and television since Desperate Housewives ended in 2012. Longoria was a regular on the show for eight years.

"You know I've been really lucky to have choices," she said. "And I don't really want to work unless the work is important or something I want to do, or something fun and exciting."

Longoria is an active Democrat. She is proud Mexican-American and wants to see positive movement in the country. She told media at Cannes "It's been blocked by a certain few people in the government, and I'm hoping we can continue to push it through before the next election."

The Hollywood Reporter named Longoria Philanthropist of the year in 2009. Longoria promotes several causes. She brings attention to Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), which is a nonprofit organization that helps improve the lives of Latino children with cancer. Longoria also promotes Eva's Heroes, which gives people with developmental disabilities support after school. Longoria also supports the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Congressional elections are in the fall.
