Sandra Bullock, Oscar-winning star of Gravity and other movies, made a surprise commencement speech that is being called inspiring.

Sandra Bullock gave sound advice to the graduates as they step into their future. One where the world won't see their fingers up their noses.

On Monday morning, Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock surprised the graduates of Warren Easton during their ceremony at the Lakefront arena.

Bullock told the graduating class in New Orleans, Louisiana, "You know at Warren Easton, you are loved and appreciated and supported for what you have to offer. I was trying to remember my graduation and, oddly, I couldn't remember anything. I remembered how good I looked and then I went back and looked at pictures and I really didn't look so good."

Bullock told New Orleans' Warren Easton Charter High School to be "present" and "stop being scared of the unknown."

Bullock, who is a major supporter of the school, told the students not to worry so much. She asked "If you could go back and talk to your younger self, what would you say?" She admitted that any advice she got when she was young was lost because, "I didn't remember anything, because I was so worried about the future."

Bullock told the crowd. "I wasn't present."

Bullock adopted the school after it was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to help rebuild the campus. She paid for athletic equipment and band uniforms. Sandra also helped to open a health clinic at the school. She as funded scholarships for graduating seniors.

"I wished someone had said to me what I've been spending the last four years, telling a little boy, who I love more than anything, who happens to be my son. So I thought, 'Maybe I will share that with you guys, that what I tell a 4-year-old, is what I wish someone had told me before I stepped out into the world.'"

If you want something green, she says, there are better places to get it than from up your nose. "Eat something green every day. Do not pick your nose in public. How about we just go get a tissue? When someone who cares about you hugs you, hug them back. If someone doesn't want to play with you, it's okay. Not everybody is going to love us. And last but not least go find your joy. It's what you're going to remember in the end. It's not the worry, it's not the what-ifs. It's the joy that stays with you. And I want to thank you for the joy that Warren Easton brings me every day."
