New Android Phones 2014: Micromax's New KitKat-Powered Midranger Packs Quality Specs For Only $120, Boasts 4.7" Display, Quad-Core CPU, 1GB RAM

New Android phones 2014: We all know that the world's top Android manufacturers are slugging it out in the high-end category in terms of specs and pricing. However, for emerging mobile manufacturers in China and India, the idea is simple - develop a decent-spec'd Android phone that would satisfy most if not all of the basic needs of the regular Android fan, and pair it with a mouth-watering price tag.

Micromax has been one of these emerging mobile companies in India, and this new smartphone still stays true to that principle.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Indian-based manufacturer has just took off the wraps from its Micromax Unite 2 Android phone.

In the report, the Android-powered handset would only cost Rs.6,999 or only about $120.

With that kind of price tag, what would you expect from such a smartphone?

The Micromax Unite 2 is definitely no pushover and it would rank in properly with other cheap but quality Android handsets in the market today such as the Motorola Moto E.

The Micromax-made smartphone packs a 4.7-inch display with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, an MT6582M chipset, a quad-core CPU running at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, and a 4GB built storage expandable through the microSD card slot.

Also on board is a 5 megapixel camera, dual-SIM support, a 2,000mAh battery, and surprisingly Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box.

For the past few years, these emerging manufacturers are known to deliver quality handsets at very affordable price ranges, but most of them run on outdated versions of Android. What's worse is that these mobile makers seldom release updates for their devices, leaving customers hanging and just waiting for a brand new smartphone with an updated Android version.

However, this year these companies are beginning to fill in the gap, and are becoming more and more real contenders for the Android crown.
