Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown were held out of the lineup against left-hander Jorge De La Rosa on Tuesday night, but both are expected back against the right-handed Lyles. Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg is looking to spark his struggling offense, and he is open to platooning if it yields results, according to what he told MLB.com.

"If it happens to work and if it produces, that becomes an opportunity and a possibility going forward," Sandberg said. "Just to possibly get some consistency with the offense against right-handed and left-handed pitching."

With the Rockies struggling to get the clutch hit, manager Walt Weiss shook up on the lineup Tuesday night, dropping Michael Cuddyer from second to fifth in the order. Cuddyer is 6-for-19 (.316) on Colorado's current road stretch. DJ LeMahieu replaced Cuddyer in the two-spot, according to MLB.com.

"A lot of it depends on who's in the lineup and how it all works together," Weiss said. "I felt dropping 'Cuddy' into the middle of the order will hopefully get him some RBI situations. He's swinging the bat well, so we try to set the table up top."
