Scout Willis, the 22-year old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is staging a protest against Instagram and its strict rules of censoring the female nipples on their users' pictures.

To have the maximum impact, Willis walked around New York City completely topless. Of course, she took pictures of her leisurely stroll and posted them on Twitter (which does not have the same rule).

Scout actually posted topless photos to her previous Instagram account, which was shut down last week, and drove her to set up another account just to see how long it would take for them to censor her second attempt. It was a short-lived experiment to say the least.

"Using the hashtag #FreeTheNipple, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore posted pictures on Twitter showing her walking half-naked in the daylight down busy Manhattan streets.

She made the striking visual statement in opposition to Instagram's rules prohibiting the use of female nudity for any purpose - even in the context of women sharing their battles against breast cancer.

"Legal in NYC but not on @instagram," tweeted Willis, along with a picture of her inspecting flowers at a produce stand while topless. She added another nude shot commenting, "What @instagram won't let you see #FreeTheNipple."

This is not going to be a lonely battle for Scout. She will have top class sympathizers starting with Rihanna, as MTV reports:

"This isn't the first time Instagram has been called out for its hypocritical policy when it comes to photos of female breasts. In addition to reportedly suspending Rihanna's account in April after she posted a photo of her topless cover for Lui magazine (which Instagram cagily described as having happened "by mistake") the application has come under fire for removing pictures of breast cancer survivors and breastfeeding moms - while simultaneously allowing photos of bare-chested and large-breasted men, or photos posted by leery men of nearly-nude women, to stay up.

No stranger to Instagram nipple controversy, Rihanna jumped on the topless bandwagon, supporting Scout on Twitter with the battle cry 'FREE THE NIPPLE.'"

They would probably become BFFs, "Breast Friends Forever" (pardon the pun) as Scout Willis has used Rihanna's controversial Lui magazine cover as her profile photo on Twitter.
