Shinhwa's Min Woo Performed EXO's 'Growl'

Usually, newer artists cover older songs. But when it comes to EXO, everybody is trying his or her hand at the most popular songs.

Legendary group Shinhwa's Lee Min Woo recently held his solo concert in Seoul, where he performed his own version of EXO's "Growl." Even though he debuted in 1998 while EXO debuted in 2011, Min Woo took control of the song and made it his own.

At the 2014 M+Ten Tour - M Step on May 24 and 25, Min Woo performed a solo version of "Growl," slowing down the tempo and making it easier to sing as a solo artist. He wore the iconic jersey outfit, with the number 69, that EXO's members wore during promotion. Fans were ecstatic as Min Woo performed the complex dance.

Min Woo performed with a live band and additional vocalists, changing the entire feeling of the wolf-like song. The rhythm was slower, but suited a solo performer.

Even though Min Woo was born in 1974, sixteen years before any of the EXO members were born, he did a good job covering "Growl," and looking like one of the youthful members of EXO.

Min Woo debuted as a Shinhwa with SM Entertainment, beore Shinhwa left SM in 2003, so Min Woo and Shinhwa are technically EXO's senior artists. The fact that Min Woo covered "Growl" is a honor to EXO, showing that they are so recognized in Korea that even someone who debuted years before wants to try his hand at it.

There have been numerous covers of EXO's songs that have gained popularity, primarily thanks to EXO's strong fanbase.

Although Min Woo's entire concert has yet to be released for fans, there were many fans asking for the video of Min Woo's cover of "Growl" to be released. So his agency, Liveworks Company, obliged and released the video.

Min Woo will continue his solo concert. His next concert will take place in June, in Japan.
