Manhattanhenge 2014 Sunset Tonight: Will Rain Shower Ruin Manhattan Sunset Photos For New York City Residents?

Manhattanhend 2014 is nearly upon us, and now is the time to take out your cameras and find the best spot to capture the perfect sunset photos in Manhattan.

If the rain doesn't ruin it, of course.

If you don't know, Manhattanhenge refers to an evening "when the setting sun aligns precisely with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of light across Manhattan's brick and steel canyons."

According to USA Today, Manhattanhenge 2014 should illuminate "both the north and south sides of every cross street of the borough's grid," and "may just be a unique urban phenomenon in the world, if not the universe."

WeatherBug reports that the best streets to take photos of Manhattanhenge would be across 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, 57th, and several adjacent streets."

The peak sunset time should be around 8:16pm EST, so be sure to take out your cameras and take the best photos to represent Manhattanhenge 2014.

Sadly, Manhattanhenge may be ruined by the slight chance of rain shower. Despite having a clear forecast earlier in the day, there is reportedly a 30% of rain between 4:00pm and 8:00pm.

Only time will tell if this will ruin Manhattanhenge 2014 for New York residents everywhere.

But don't worry, the other date to see Manhattanhenge 2014 would be July 12, so there is a second chance should rain occur.
