Star Wars 7 Cast Update: Will Adam Driver Play Villain Or Son of Han Solo and Princess Leia?

Adam Driver was one of the new faces of Star Wars franchise when the cast list was updated in late April. Since then, Star Wars fans have been speculating his role in the film. 'Girls' star Adam Driver, with his penchant for moody, broody dark side, was thought to play a villain like Sith Lord in the spirit of Darth Vader or Darth Maul, but now the cast update rumor indicates that he may instead play the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

The role still will be dark-ish though. One of the movie's plot points is the son being lured to the Dark Side, and Han and Leia attempting to pull him back to their world. For Adam Driver, who so well played the moody, but lovable Adam Sackler in 'Girls', this will be not a challenge.

One thing that may help the fans patiently awaiting the release of Star Wars 7 sleep at night is the fact that Adam Driver for sure will be in the film. Star Wars Facebook page made an announcement of the full cast list last month and his name is embedded squarely in the middle.

"The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film."

Director J.J. Abrams also added, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."

Ain't It Cool made a couple of guesses as to what the title of Star Wars 7 will be. "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Ancient Fear" sounded pretty good.

Star Wars 7 will hit theaters on December 18, 2015. Only a year and a half to go!
