The Rihanna CFDA dress came with 216,000 Swarovski crystals and to complement its sparkle, the songstress sported a baby pink feather boa as well as a turban. Designer Selman told Style.com trhat they really wanted to make RiRi's outfit stand out: "We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous."

The 'California King Bed' singer's stylist, Mel Ottenberg, explained how he felt about the outfit: "It's so naked. I don't know if it's shocking - I'm with her all the time, so my shock gauge is off - but I told her that I thought she was ready for this dress a while ago, and that I wasn't. I'm the prude, and I'm just catching up."

How did Drake react to the Rihanna CFDA dress? As per Hollywood Life, RiRi's shocking ensemble might be a way to tell Drake what he lost following the couple's alleged break up. However, an insider claimed that Drake wasn't really the number one fan of the 'Diamonds' singer's outfit.

"He's old school and would prefer his woman to only reveal her naked body to him and him alone. That's just how he is but he thinks if it's liberating for Rihanna to personally show her birthday suit to the world, and if she's happy doing it, then more power to her," said the source.

Drake might not be that happy but Vogue magazine praised the Barbadian beauty for affecting fashion instead of following it. Editor-in-chief Anna Wintour presented the CFDA 2014 Fashion Icon award to Rihanna.

In her acceptance speech, Rihanna justified her unconventional outfit choice: "Fashion should never be frustrating. It should be fun."
