MacBook Air Retina Display Release Date: No Mac Air At WWDC 2014? Rumored Specs Include Thinner Design, New Trackpad With Sensors

A couple of years ago, Apple introduced the Retina design for the MacBook Pro lineup, much to the delight of fans. However, thousands of fans are also expecting to hear a MacBook Air Retina displayr release date from the Cupertino manufacturer.

Unfortunately, two WWDC's, (the other one ends this week) have already come and gone without any announcements of a new ultraportable laptop from Apple.

Previous reports and rumors a couple of months ago suggest that the Retina technology would finally make its way to the MacBook Air this year. In addition, there were also rumors from several unnamed sources that the new Apple ultrathin notebook would get a 12-inch version, and an even thinner build.

Earlier this year, Apple was also awarded a patent for a trackpad which has sensors which can detect movement. In a report, this hardware would replace the traditional buttons of the keyboard. Instead of pushing the buttons, a MacBook user would only 'hover' his fingers to a particular spot and the sensor trackpad will 'know' what to do.

Indeed, it sounds like the source of the rumor came out of a sci-fi film, but when it comes to Apple products and 'revolutionary' improvements, we certainly have not doubt that Apple can handle it - if it decides to actually work on it.

For many years, Apple has proven that being the first does not automatically lead to becoming the best. For the past year, this has been the principle behind rumored products such as the iPad Pro which allegedly packs a 12.9-inch screen. Samsung released its 12-inch tablet at the CES in Las Vegas, the first Android slate to get as much screen estate.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will turn out to be a disappointment for the Korean manufacturer. That is also the same with the iWatch as Samsung jumped into the competition right away with the Galaxy Gear - and they now have 3 versions available in the market today.

Time and again, Apple has been patient in releasing devices and 'new' technology. We'll just trust the Cupertino manufacturer that it indeed has something special in store for us before the year ends.
