Cheap Windows Tablets 2014: The Emdoor EM-i8080 Packs 8" Display, Quad-Core Intel Atom Chip, 1GB RAM, 16GB Storage For Only $100

Windows 8 is slowly becoming a decent computer platform, and tablet enthusiasts would soon look for cheaper alternatives aside fromt the pricey Surface Pro 2 for their simple tasks and work needs.

In case you are looking for a decent Windows powered tablet that does not hurt your pocket, then you may awnt to check out the Emdoor EM-i8080 tablet.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Windows 8.1 slate was showcased during the Computex Expo in Taiwan this week, and it showed some great promise because of its affordable price tag.

At 8 inches long, the Emdoor slate is only priced at $100. Yes, it even costs less than the already super affordable Moto G Android phone when it was launched.

But what do you get for that much cash? It is a bang-for-your-buck device as the Emdoor EM-i8080 packs an IPS display with 1280 x 800 resolution, stereo speakers in front, and an Intel Atom Trail Bay chipset.

Already impressed? You ain't seen nothing yet.

The Windows tablet also boasts a quad-core CPU that runs at 1.33GHz, though you can enable Burst mode to increase the frequency at 1.83GHz each core. There is also an Intel HD graphics at 311MHz (646MHz in Burst mode) which adds to the overall affordability of the device.

Unfortunately, that's where the good things end. As usual, these kinds of devices would not be able to make any profit without allowing compromises. The Emdoor EM-i8080 is not an exception.

The Windows tablet only has 1GB of RAM which should be enough for basic tasks, but anything beyond that would pose lags. Another downside is the 16GB storage. While there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion, the consumer may actually spend more for the microSD card if it goes beyond 64GB.

So will this Windows 8.1 tablet work for you?
