‘The Hobbit: Battle Of Five Armies’ Spoilers: More Sauron And Less Smaug? Final Battle Promises To Be Epic

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" spoilers tend toward less Smaug and more Sauron for the final installment of Peter Jackson's trilogy. The final battle between elves, dwarves, orcs, men and eagles promises to be as epic as it sounds.

Kit Simpson Browne dished out on some "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" spoilers as she wrote for MoviePilotthat "Smaug has already had his time in the sun, most likely" and the dragon will probably be defeated during the first scenes of the film, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's novel.

"Don't worry, though - that doesn't mean the film will be lacking in villainy. Expect major appearances from the aforementioned Orcs, Saruman and Sauron himself," she wrote, adding that one of the subplots could be Saruman playing savior to Gandalf during his battle with Sauron.

As to the epic battle, Browne wrote that Tolkien's novel doesn't really dwell too much on the battle of the five armies, which won't be a problem for director Peter Jackson who has already proven his penchant for creating epic scenes.

In an interview with Empire magazine in December last year, Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield) the actor admitted that the battle has been looming over the cast and crew of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies."

"I'm predicting about ten weeks for the shoot because it's an extensive battle and each character is going to have their 'hero' moment on the battlefield," he said.

Richard Armitage also provided a glimpse of "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies spoilers: "It's a manic fight in the air - the eagles are fighting bats - and on the ground, and I can't wait to see what Pete does with that."

According to comicbookmovie.com, Andy Serkis, who plays Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" and Hobbit series, only has this to say when prompted for a reaction on the big battle:

"It's going to be intense beyond belief. It's going to be extraordinary - that's all I can say."
