World Cup 2014 Group Of Death Predictions: Group B And D Odds To Advance Break Down

FIFA World Cup 2014 is just a few days away with the first game being Brazil vs. Croatia on June 12th. Good thing that the host country isn't in the group of death, which fondly refers to the group with the toughest competitors and the best soccer stars. Not all cakes can be cut the same size so complete fairness is hard to achieve in grouping soccer teams into fours (the controversy being a whole other bag of worms). This year's World Cup's groups of death are Group B and Group D. What will be the odds of teach teams in these two groups to advance? Read below for a complete break down.

Group B has Spain, Chile, Netherlands and Australia. Hoo-yah, that's one tough line up. If these countries were in any other groups, they would have a solid chance of advancing beyond the preliminaries, but this competition could make it hard for all the teams involved. While there is no definite "loser" prediction in this category, many soccer experts are banking on Spain to top all the teams. Spain has won three international tournaments in a row. And it also has the super player Diego Costa, despite his ongoing health issues. But even without this fantastic player, the team has a great chance. With Diego Costa, it'll be some freak of nature if they don't advance. Chile is the runner-up favorite, being from South America and all. They'll have a more of a built-in fanbase as well a roster of great players to boot.

Netherlands and Australia both have very strong teams so it can be reasonably expected that they will be able to pull out the big guns to fight off the South American behemoths. They have a history of advancing far into the World Cup so it would be foolish to discount any of their potential. The question is, would Netherlands and Australia step up to the challenge?

Now the Group D. Poor Costa Rica. If it was inserted into any other group, it would have had a fair chance in advancing, but with the odds of Group D, the team may quickly fall away. Italy, England and Uruguay have all won the World Cup in the past (if not twice) and they are expected to perform very well. England and Italy have their own star players from the Premier League, and Uruguay, like Chile, may have some advantage being South American country playing in Brazil.

In groups like these, surprises always work themselves into every predictions and potential advances, so continue tuning in for match updates on FIFA world cup website! Or better yet, watch the games live at your nearest bar!
