A Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight is probably good as dead. Time is running out on the two boxers and more opponents are coming out of their weight class. Should we settle for the cocky boxer who declares himself as Mayweather's little brother?

He actually called out Manny Pacquiao after his win over Carlos Molina last month. He mentioned in an interview and also posted on Twitter: "I want to fight Manny Pacquiao before he leaves."

But experts are dismissive of the challenge. From Bleacher Report:

"Considering what Maidana already did to Broner, Pacquiao would seemingly have little trouble taking The Problem to school."

The value of a Pacquiao-Broner showdown is that it's Pacquiao versus a Mayweather wannabe. Since we can't have Pacquiao vs Mayweather for a variety of reasons given by The Money Team, this is seen as the next best thing.

Broner told Showtime's Bryan Kenny: "I'm the closest thing to Floyd Mayweather so since I took my loss, everybody feels like Floyd Mayweather's took a loss, because I'm the closest thing to him...and still to this day, I'm the closest thing to him."

Yahoo points out: "A fight between the two would undoubtedly sell a ton of tickets and even more pay per views. People tune in to watch Manny Pacquiao win while other people watch Adrien Broner just to see him lose. Put the two in the ring together and we would have ourselves quite an exciting event.

In addition, Broner is a Floyd Mayweather wannabe, plus the two are really good friends. When Marcos Maidana defeated Broner, Money May thought it was his job to defend Broner which ultimately led to Mayweather accepting a fight against Maidana. Although many people expected Mayweather to easily defeat Maidana, it ended up being the toughest fight of Money May's undefeated career."

 It sounds juvenile, but the thought pattern is that if Pacman beats Broner just like Maidana, it could urge Mayweather to ultimately take the Pacquiao fight.

But the sad reality is that the promoters are still not working with each other. Pacman is still part of Top Rank, Broner is still part of Golden Boy Promotions. As always, boxing fans will hope.
