Samsung Galaxy Premier 2014 video and recap: New tablets where unveiled Thursday at the Madison Square event of Samsung dubbed the “Samsung Galaxy Premier.” The company unveiled the newest line of slabs known as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S range, which sports Samsung’s trademark colorful OLED displays.

According to PC Advisor, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S comes in two sizes, the first with a screen that measures 8.4-inches diagonally and the second with a 10.5-inch screen. Both have Super AMOLED display resolutions.

The new tablets unveiled during the event include the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. Specs of the new devices include an Exynos 5 Octa processor and boasts 3GB of RAM, an IR sensor, 8MP rear camera, 2.1 MP front-facing camera and an Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The event was held Friday evening (local time) of June 13 in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Numerous tech sites brought live coverage of the event and it was also available livestream via Samsung’s YouTube channel.

Last year, the Samsung Galaxy Premier 2013 event saw the unveiling of the Samsung ATIV Q tablet-laptop and the Ativ Tab 3, which is a more traditional tablet. The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus was also announced together with the more affordable Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite.

There were very little details disclosed before the event. But what has been known all along was that the Galaxy Premier event will be all about tablets this year, thanks to a comment made by the company’s mobile division head.

“Samsung will launch a new line of tablets for the first time in New York on June 12 at Madison Square Garden as it attempts to catch up to rivals like Apple Inc,” says Samsung Mobile CEO JK Shin.
