Anna Kendrick Movies: ‘Pitch Perfect’ Actress To Star As ‘Upbeat Princess’ In Upcoming Troll Dolls 90s Film

Children of the sixties to nineties will be greatly familiar with Troll Dolls - the eccentric beady-eyed dolls with bright colorful hair. While the Troll Dolls 90s are not famous anymore, collectors will be delighted to find out that a Troll Dolls film starring Anna Kendrick is currently in the works.

DreamWorks Animation, the creator of 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'Shrek', confirms that it will bring back the popular dolls through an animated musical. 'Pitch Perfect' actress Anna Kendrick will be lending her voice to the "relentlessly upbeat princess Poppy."

"Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice. She'll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls," said Director Mike Mitchell, as reported by Cinema Blend.

Mitchell is an expert in directing family-friendly shows. Apart from 'Shrek: Forever After', he has likewise directed the third part of the hit 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' franchise.

There is no news about the other artists who will give life to the Troll Dolls. Anna Kendrick will similarly appear in a musical entitled 'Into the Woods.' She will be playing the role of Cinderella. Included in the cast are Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, and Chris Pine.

In addition to the film, fans must also expect the release of other Troll Dolls products such as toys and books. American Girl executive Shawn Dennis will reportedly assist in the merchandise tie-in.

"Trolls is a brand with over fifty years of deep heritage and we are thrilled to bring this iconic, multi-generational property to DreamWorks Animation. We have big plans for this franchise and Shawn Dennis is uniquely suited to lead this charge. She helped grow the American Girl brand into a household name and by bringing this expertise to 'Trolls' she will introduce these characters to legions of new fans around the world," read the studio's statement last year.

'Trolls' is expected to hit theater screens on November 4, 2016.
