Ben Affleck Rumored To Star In Stand Alone Batman Movie Titled "THE BATMAN' [PHOTO]

When Ben Affleck was announced to be playing Batman in the Justice League movies last August, reactions ranged from angry to excited, largely in part due to Affleck's portrayal of Daredevil, which was a complete flop. Now Ben Affleck is rumored to be starring in a stand alone Batman film, which would be coming out in 2019.

Warner Brothers and DC are making a concerted attempt to knock Marvel's The Avengers off the superhero throne. The original Batman films are largely credited with starting the craze of superhero movies, and were a huge profit for both DC and Warner Brothers, making another Batman movie inevitable at some point in the future.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice League," sequel to last years "Man of Steel," is already in production and should be finished by December. "Justice League" begins production in the winter of 2015.

After that Affleck is slated to write, direct, and star in his period gangster film "Live By Night," scheduled to hit theaters in October 2016. Based on that, the soonest Warner Brothers could begin production is 2017 or 2018.

Ben Affleck signed on to play Batman in multiple movies, so if there is a stand alone Batman movie in the future, it will in all likelihood involve Affleck. The contract for those movies took a notoriously long time to sign, so it is not outside the scope of probability that those contracts also included a directing clause, meaning Affleck could potentially also direct the stand alone Batman movie.

Latino Review, reports that the hypothetical release date would be 2019, and that the project already has a tentative name, "The Batman.'"
