Psy Tops 2 Categories On U.S. Billboard Chart With 'Hangover'

Psy's "Hangover" continues to make headlines since its release on June 9.

The singer's most recent track has topped two categories on the U.S. Billboard chart.

"Hangover" has ranked No. 1 on the Billboard "Twitter Top Track" and "Dance/Electronic Streaming Song" categories, according to Billboard.

Psy pushed past current hits including "All of Me" and "Problem" for the "Twitter Top Track" category. The "Dance/Electronic Streaming Song" category is one that the Korean sensation is familiar with because "Gangnam Style" was previously seen on the charts as well.

"Hangover" entered the Billboard "Hot 100" chart, making him the first Asian singer to have three songs on this specific chart.

"Hangover" currently has over 72 million views on YouTube, following in the footsteps of Psy's previous hits.

The process of making "Hangover" was more than natural for Psy, as the 36-year-old revealed to Billboard that he's a heavy drinker.

"I can honestly say (I'm hungover) half of the year," said the "Gangnam Style" hitmaker.

The music video is a 5-minute snippet into the drinking culture and nightlife in South Korea. Psy and rapper Snoop Dogg are seen going to karaoke, a bathhouse and indulging in soju shots.

The two artists reportedly filmed 20 scenes in 10 locations in a matter of 18 hours.

Psy recently performed his hit track "Gangnam Style" is Seoul's Gangnam district for the first time in order to commemorate the 2014 World Cup Games, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"I won't be singing my recently released song today. I can't sing about hangover when cheering for our national team. I feel a great responsibility, though, because 'Hangover' has been so loved despite its early release," stated the singer.

Psy reportedly sang eight songs for the crowd that gathered to cheer on the South Korean soccer team. He even sang "Champion," which became widely popular during the 2002 Korean-Japan World Cup Games.

"The impassioned cheering of citizens inspired me to write 'Champion.' It's also a song that helped me continue my music career, which would have ended after a short run [if it weren't for 'Champion']. So even though 'Gangnam Style' was such a success, it can't be as dear to me as 'Champion,'" explained the singer.
