Xiaomi Mi TV 2 Review: Specs Of Android TV Incl. 49-Inch 4K 3D Panel, 64GB Storage, 1.45GHz Quad-Core Processor; Smart TV On Sale For $640, Not Avail In U.S.

Xiaomi Mi TV 2 review: Specs of the Xiaomi’s Android-powered smart TV, the Xiaomi Mi TV 2, has a 49-inch 4K 3D panel, 64GB storage, and 1.45Ghz quad-core processor. The smart TV is now available and on sale for CN¥3,999 or around $640. Though it can now be purchased in China, the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 may never be available in the U.S., according to Engadget.

Xiaomi unveiled the Mi TV 2 at an event last month, where they also launched the brand new Xiaomi MiPad. Though powered by Android, the Mi TV 2 has an MIUI TV skin and you can still side-load other TV apps.

The hardware of the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 includes the earlier mentioned 4K 3D panel, presumably manufactured by either LG or CSOT, within a 6.2mm aluminum bezel. Under the hood is a MediaTek MStar 6A918 quad-core processor that clocks in at 1.45GHz and is powered with 2GB of RAM. The 8GB available storage has microSD support, which can add up to 64GB.

Xiaomi Mi TV 2 also has a Bluetooth LE remote and not the usual infrared version. Engadget notes in its story about the TV that in case you lose the remote in your room, you can tap the bottom of the TV to make the remote beep. You can also install a remote app in your phone, with which you can use gestures and voice to control the TV and read up on the show you’re watching.

The audio feature of the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 is deemed impressive. Company CEO Xei Jun said that to keep the TV’s thickness at 15.5mm, the Xiaomi team decided to store the speakers in separate parts: there is a wide audio bar with mid-range and treble drivers, and a Bluetooth subwoofer with the 8-inch driver. The Mi TV 2’s audio kit can also be used with mobile devices via Bluetooth.

Xiaomi partnered with Wistron and Pegatron in manufacturing the TV, ensuring that the company has enough supply for consumers. The Xiaomi Mi TV precedes the Xiaomi Mi TV 2.
