'Mass Effect 4' Release Date New Trailer: Amazon Rumors Likely False, Bioware To Finish 'Dragon Age' Sequel First [VIDEO]

Fans of space, giant space apocalypse robots, and attractive blue aliens can stop holding their breath: "Mass Effect 4" is coming! Mass Effect 4 has been confirmed to be in development in Bioware's studios in Montreal.

At E3 2014 Bioware showed off a new trailer for "Mass Effect 4."

Details like what it will be called and when it will be set in the franchise's timeline are completely up in the air.

"To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here," BioWare community manager Chris Priestly said.

"We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game. I see people saying 'well, they'll have to pick a canon ending'. No, because the game does not have to come after. Or before. Or off to the side. Or with characters you know. Or yaddayaddayadda."

Whilst there's no set release date for "Mass Effect 4," but many are suggesting it won't be released until late 2014 or even early 2015.

BioWare's Edmonton & Montreal studios Aaryn Flynn confirmed that the team at BioWare have actually been considering an original Mass Effect Trilogy remake for PS4 and Xbox One which would take time and resources away from the development of "Mass Effect 4."

Recently Amazon accidentally posted "Mass Effect 4" with a release date for December 31, but seeing as the developer will be nowhere near done by then, this is probably an accident.

"Mass Effect 4" comes with Oculus Rift support and the upgrade will create an entirely new level of entertainment. The gaming team displayed its new plot at the E3 2014 in Los Angeles. Although the gameplay was not shown, the audience previewed a teaser of the game.

Bioware community manager Christ Priestly said, "I do hope [BioWare's managers] drop a few hints, but I really doubt there will be any teasers, trailers or even substantial news interviews about MENext. Given that for some fans the last memory of the trilogy was a negative one, I think BioWare will want to really wow prospective ME fans to pay attention to a new title right out of the gate, rather than announcing a few details or teaser trailer, then going dark while DA:I takes centre stage."
