NBA Rookies 2014: Andrew Wiggins Relishes The Spotlight; ‘Maple Jordan’ Has Been On National Radar Since He Was Thirteen Years Old! [VIDEO] Cleveland Cavaliers Fans Excited!

Andrew Wiggins is the top overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft. It was one of the most talented draft classes in the past decade and it was tough to choose who the best is. Cleveland thinks it made the right choice.

A special feature on Fox Sports reveals that he has been on the national radar since he was 13 years old. That was almost six years ago and now the prodigious talent will now compete at the highest level in the former stomping grounds of the world's greatest player.

From Fox Sports:

"The youngest son of former NBA player Mitchell Wiggins and former Canadian Olympic sprinter Marita-Payne Wiggins started dunking all over the Toronto area at 12, and by the time he came to North Carolina for high school in 2009, there was a YouTube video of his dunks and uber-athletic plays making its way around the Internet.

That video - 'Best 13 Year Old In The Nation 6'6 Andrew Wiggins!' -- has now been viewed more than 4.7 million times."

His father is former NBA veteran Mitchell Wiggins, who played with Hakeem Olajuwon in the 1986 NBA Finals for Houston. He confesses that sports has always been a part of his sons’ lives (brother Nick Wiggins is a senior at Wichita State):

"They grew up in the gym.”
But Andrew was segregated: "The cameras . . . the glare has been on him since he was 14. Andrew has matured beyond his years. He's comfortable with who he is. He walks his walk."

Fox Sports continues:
“Mitchell Wiggins said Andrew was 15 when Michael Jordan first saw him play. And Mitchell Wiggins said Jordan asked Mitchell if the player he was watching -- the one jumping over everybody -- was his son.
After Mitchell confirmed that it was, Jordan said, ‘Ooh, he's got a little something.’"

Since then, Andrew Wiggins was on numerous mix tapes, and his college decision was broadcast nationwide.
The Cleveland Cavaliers fans could not be more excited! Wiggins is a great defender and it will bring that dimension to their team. From Bleacher Report:

“Wiggins, however, possesses a rare flare for the other end of the floor that can immediately impact the game. Even if his offense tops out at mediocre, he'll always have his defense to rely on. And in a league with outstanding offensive players everywhere, that will suffice to provide him with a long career.”
