Jasper Cillessen Ignored As Tim Krul Celebrated: Netherlands National Team Goalkeepers Fight For Spotlight At Argentina vs. Netherlands Brazil World Cup 2014

Jasper Cillessen has been the steadfast goalkeeper for Netherlands National Team at the Brazil World Cup. But this past Sunday Tim Krul, the reserve goalkeeper, took the victory as he saved two out of five penalties against Costa Rica. Which goalkeeper will the coach use for the Argentina vs. Netherlands game?

Pooer Jasper Cillessen couldn't even get a high five at the end of the game! Watch the round-the-clock goalie get ignored by this teammates on Vine:

While the reserve goalkeeper barely sees the light of day at World Cups, Tim Krul has made a name for himself for specializing in penalty shootouts. To switch the goalkeeper at the 120th mark of the game is very unorthodoxed.

Tim Krul told the Associated Press, "When I started my warm up the whole bench [Costa Rican] was kind of confused what is going on. [Costa Rica coach]'s face was priceless, I think."

Especially because Jasper Cillessen was playing a fairly good game! He has not been challenged that much on the field as the Netherlands national team mostly kept the possession of the ball and pushed it towards the Costa Rican goal.

In fact, right before the penalty shootout, the star goalkeeper of the game was undoubtedly Keylor Navas, the Costa Rican goalie who had been making saves as impressive as Tim Howard's against Belgium earlier in the week.

However, either too tired from the 120 minutes of play or too many miscalculations, Keylor Navas couldn't make a single save.

Tim Krul, fresh off the bench, was ready to fight. Associated Press reports that he "faced up to opponents at the penalty spot and repeatedly told them he knew where they'd place their shots".

"I don't think I have done anything wrong," Krul said at a team news conference. "I haven't shouted at [them] in an aggressive manner. I haven't done anything crazy. I just told them I knew where they are going.

"I am trying obviously to get into their heads and it worked. I use everything in my power to make it happen."

Sounds like Tim Krul's cruel mind game worked. Let's see if his trick will also work in Argentina vs. Netherlands.
