'Destiny' Beta Release Date Update For Xbox One, Xbox 360, And Playstation 4: Bungie Releases Beta Trailer And Announces Special Editions: 'Destiny Ghost Edition' And 'Destiny Limited Edition'[VIDEO]

Bungie has previously announced a PS4 beta release date for their highly anticipated "shared world shooter," "Destiny," now they have updated the Xbox One beta, and revealed the special editions.  Bungie announced that a public beta for its upcoming co-op shooter "Destiny" will come out on PlayStation platforms on July 17. A beta release for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will follow on July 24.

Destiny's"beta will run for eight days on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and four days on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Activision also outlined its premium edition release plans for "Destiny," including the" Destiny Ghost Edition" ($149.99), the "Destiny Limited Edition" ($99.99), and the downloadable "Destiny Digital Guardian Edition" ($89.99).

"Destiny's" Limited Edition is packaged in a SteelBook case and includes a collectible Folio and a batch of bonus in-game content. The Ghost Edition additionally includes a Letter of Introduction, a physical collection of Golden Age Relics, and a light-up, motion-activated Ghost statue featuring voice recordings from actor Peter Dinklage.

All special editions include a copy of the game and the "Destiny" Expansion Pass, which grants access to two expansions planned for future release. Players can also purchase both expansions as a $34.99 bundle, or individually for $19.99 each at launch.

Sony confirmed during its E3 2014 press briefing that the beta would begin July 17 on PS3 and PS4, and Microsoft announced later that month that the beta would arrive later in July on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Activision gave specific details today: While the beta will begin at different times, it will end on all platforms at 2:59 a.m. ET on Monday, July 28.

PS3 and PS4 owners with beta access will be able to start playing at 1 p.m. ET on July 17, and they'll be able to keep going until the end of the beta period, except for a two-day maintenance window. "Destiny" developer Bungie will take the beta offline from July 21-22. The studio will open the beta up again on July 23, when it will go live at 1 p.m. ET on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and continue on PS3 and PS4.
