Oprah Winfrey Talks To Jerry Sandusky’s Son; Claims He Was Allegedly Abused By His Father Since He Was 8 Years Old

Oprah Winfrey talks to Jerry Sandusky’s son, Matt, who claims that his father began abusing him when he was eight years old. According to the Oprah Winfrey Network’s announcement, the now 35-year-old adopted son of Jerry Sandusky described in the interview his father’s grooming, methodical control and manipulation.

The televised interview will air at 9 PM on July 17 on Winfrey’s OWN Network and Matt Sandusky is expected to give a personal account of the abuse he suffered, Philly.com reports.

Matt’s on-air talk with Winfrey will be his first public interview since his adoptive father’s 2012 conviction on child sex abuse charges.

“At bedtime, his ritual began,” Matt says in a brief video clip posted on Winfrey’s website.

The famous talk show host responds by asking, “Did the ritual happen every night?”

Jerry Sandusky is a former Pennsylvania State University assistant football coach who is now serving 30-60 years for the sexual abuse of 10 boys. Sandusky was never charged for the abusing his son.

Matt Sandusky me his Jerry and his wife, Dottie, through the Second Mile charity for at-risk youths. A few years later, he moved in with the family and was formally adopted when he was 18 years old.

During the final days of Jerry Sandusky’s trial, Matt told the police that his father began abusing him when he was 10 years old. The allegations led Dottie to say that her son was dishonest and mentally ill, and also that he had stolen from the family, Philly.com notes.

In the interview, Matt responds to Dottie’s accusations.

According to Philly.com, Matt Sandusky is one of 26 men who have been awarded financial settlements with Penn State since the Sandusky trial.
