Emmy Nomination For Lizzy Caplan With 'Masters Of Sex' As Season 2 Premiere: Gushes About Michael Sheen, Surprised By Emmy After Golden Globe Snub [VIDEO]

Lizzy Caplan was sick in bed when she heard that she was nominated for Emmy's Best Actress in a Drama. And this comes just days before 'Masters of Sex' Season 2 premiere date! Returning to your TV screens on Sunday July 13 at 10 p.m. EST, 'Masters of Sex' turned out to be career-changing experience for Lizzy Caplan. It must be if you have a fantastic actor like Michael Sheen alongside you!

"I am completely shocked by this news," Lizzy Caplan said in her interview with New York Times, "I just came to terms with the fact that it's probably not going to happen this year... Then I went to sleep and my friends called me in the morning. I am totally flabbergasted."

Sounds like the best news that a bedridden actress can hear!"

'Masters of Sex' season 2 premieres this Sunday with more than enough sexy scenes for all the reproductive health nerds and 60s-era fans out there. Watch the Showtime's official trailer here:

This season will include a more emotionally and physically intimate scenes between Masters and Johnson. This may or may not get awkward with Michael Sheen's girlfriend Sarah Silverman joining the cast as Betty's lesbian girlfriend Helen.

Plus, it looks like Lizzy Caplan is ever-so-slightly falling for her co-star!

"[Michael Sheen and I]'ve been working on this show now for something like three years, almost, going back to the pilot. I don't remember a time without him being a huge presence in my life. I can't recall it," Caplan confessed to New York Times.

Nothing like an off-camera romance to heat up the screen!

Talking about art mimicking life, this Emmy nomination may put Lizzy Caplan more on status quo with Michael Sheen. In 'Masters of Sex' season 1, there has been many displays of power struggle between Virginia Johnson and William Masters, with Dr. Masters pulling rank on his assistant. Till last season, Michael Sheen has been the only one with the Golden Globe nomination, but now Lizzy Caplan can hold her head high with her Emmy.

But she downplays this with a self-humbling remark: "Michael Sheen was nominated for the Golden Globe and I was nominated for this one, and each of these should be split 50-50. There is no Johnson without Masters, and vice versa."

Beau Bridges and Allison Janney also received Emmy nominations for their work in 'Masters of Sex'.
