Arjen Robben’s Son Luka Bawls After Netherlands Loses To Argentina 4-2 On Penalties: Brazil World Cup 2014 Final Dream Shattered For Best Dutch Winger’s 5 Year Old

Arjen Robben's son cried his eyes out when the Netherlands lost to Argentina 4-2 on penalties. Luka Robben's dream of seeing his father, the best winger of the Dutch team, play at Brazil World Cup 2014 final has absolutely been crushed by the fingertips of Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who saved two goals in the penalty shootout.

At least his father didn't miss his goal, am I right?

If you thought that it is hard for the players to miss the penalty kick, you just need to take one look at the bawling Luka Robben to see that no one has ever been as heartbroken as Luka since Brazil lost to Germany 1-7. The 5-year-old boy was curled up against his mother even when Arjen Robben came over to the stands to console him.

As hard as it was to admit that the Netherlands is not going to the final, it's kind of hard to smile at this scene. Even Robben's wife Bernadien Eillert cracked a smile. Watch Luka Robben turn away from his father on national TV:

It's been a hard match for everyone, but especially for Luka, who has been sitting on the front row of the stadium praying that his father will put the ball through the net at least once. And Robben did as his son hoped, during the penalties, but that wasn't enough to send the Netherlands to the final. As the triumphant Argentine team poured onto the field, Luka Robben started to cry his eyes out.

Maybe Luka Robben was crying because losing meant that he doesn't get the star treatment that he usually gets when his father wins the game. According to Yahoo Sports, Robben brought Luka onto the field when the Netherlands beat Costa Rica at the quarterfinal. Maybe all the 5-year-old die-hard Dutch fan wanted was to pretend he's the winner for five minutes.

Such dream was quickly dashed even before Argentina and the Netherlands could go into the fifth goal of the penalty shootout. Having previously missed their two chances of scoring, the Dutch players were stopped at the fourth goal as the Argentine player managed to put their fourth consecutive goal past the Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

Next World Cup, Luka, World Cup. Well, given that Arjen Robben is already 30, there may not be a next. Well, maybe you'll grow up to be a footballer!
