2014 FIFA World Cup: "Penalties are all about luck," Romero

For the Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero, it was all luck on his part when he blocked the couple Dutch penalties last Wednesday that dragged his country into the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final.

"Penalties are all about luck that is reality. I had confidence and thanks to God it turned out well," he said after the triumph over the Netherlands.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper blocked shots from Ron Vlaar and Wesley Snejjder after a goalless 120 minutes at the Corinthians Arena. Argentina is not focusing on the clash with Germany in Sunday's Final in Rio de Janeiro. "We go away happy and now we will prepare for the Final. The moment hould be enjoyed and we are going step by step," he added.

Romero spent almost all of the last season on the substitutes' bench at French Ligue 1 club Monaco. Because of that, his place in the team was the subject of the talk into the tournament.

The man has something to prove to his critics and one thing about proving is that Argentina has won every match played in Brazil.

"Let's enjoy it. I am immensely happy. I dedicate this to my mum and my wife," said Romero.

"We have hoped for this since the first day. These lads never give away anything," he added in his conversation with FIFA.com
