2014 FIFA World Cup: Luiz think of it as a bad dream

The final whistle in the battle between Brazil and Germany for the semi-final round does not sound much as a whistle to the hosting team [and the Brazilian fans as well]. Torn hearts and teary eyes were the common denominators of the players and the spectators. While the other side of the arena was celebrating, the Brazilians were heartbroken. Indeed, their dreams crushed that moment.

All lips were sealed in the dressing room, from which no single player had yet emerged. Though their coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, had arrived after giving his post-match press conference, it seemed that no one's heart was yet prepared to go out of the shelter and give their thoughts about the evening that they might considered to be the worst.

The journey of the hosting team for this tournament was already tough after missing their suspended captain Thiago Silva and their injured star player Neymar. There was a little thirst of the nation demanding for victory. It had been the case against powerful teams such as Chile and Colombia.

The pressure actually came from the team itself, and it surfaced at an early stage as Brazil self-combusted in amazing fashion.

"I was powerless to do anything, when the crash happened. When we let those goals in like that, I knew it was all over," said Scolari.

"A loss is always a loss, but to lose like this hurts a lot more, "said David Luiz in a conversation with FIFA.com. His eyes still teary and spinning, he added: "That all that should happen in six minutes is very hard to take, especially when you have to keep on fighting to the end, knowing that it's a virtually impossible task. I was thinking to myself that if this is a bad dream, then I want it to end now."

The bad dream Luiz was thinking about is a painful reality for him and for Brazil. This reality is real enough to crush the ambitions of the nation of becoming world champions on home soil, six decades after their first attempt.

And as of yet, no one can fully explain as to how or why those ambitions have vanished in six short minutes.
