"The Mentalist" season 7 spoilers revealed the struggles that Patrick Jane will encounter when a new character is introduced in the show. The series is expected to be more "action-packed" because of fewer episodes.

The TVGuide reported "The Mentalist" season 7 spoilers when it said that the character of Michelle Vega will appear in future episodes and her "by-the-book" orientation will clash with the unorthodox methods of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker).

Michelle Vega is also very ambitious and is hinted to be very qualified for the position.

As Michael Ausiello earlier wrote "The Mentatlist" season 7 spoilers at TVLine: "A new woman is about to enter Patrick Jane's (professional) life. The CBS drama is casting the series regular role of Michelle Vega, a rookie FBI agent who is a student of combat and weaponry and is unfazed by high-pressure situations."

In the season 6 finale, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) finally professed his love for Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) before he was herded away. That confession is the only thing that Teresa wanted in order to turn down Agent Pike's invitation to live with him in Washington D.C.

Meanwhile, show creator Bruno Heller also dished out "The Mentalist" season 7 spoilers when he told Entertainment Weekly that, "Up until now if you're comparing it to Moby Dick, which is one of the analogies I used to describe the length of the chase, next season the whale has been sighted and they're in the small boats and chasing the whale."

Also, Bruno Heller said they aim to provide closure to the Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) romance before the season winds up.

The CBS still hasn't provided the airing schedule for the seventh season of "The Mentalist," although it's reported that there are only 13 episodes for what could be the final season for the series.
