2014 FIFA World Cup: OmniCam for final coverage

This tournament will truly be a one great shot in the football history. The 20th FIFA World Cup Brazil production of the finals will pioneer a 360-degree viewing experience. Who to thank for the great news? A panoramic Ultra HD OmniCam developed by scientists at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin.

Whether you are a football fan or just a spectator, you will be able to re-live all the drama and emotion of the final match between Germany and Argentina ground-shaking format for the very first time at the new FIFA World Cup Football Museum in Zürich, which will be opened to the public in early 2016.

The innovation of the latest and high quality of visual technology to be introduced by the most popular sports in the world as part of the production of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil alongside love 4K and 8K productions of plays and a multimedia revolution in sports entertainment.

The OmniCam is positioned at the halfway line that will record the complete stadium in one panoramic view. This boils down to a point that soccer matches can be watched on the 360° or 180° on the screens of future panoramic cinemas. Imagining all that, it gives us a hint that with OmniCam it feels as if the viewer is sitting in the stadium watching the match in person.

This so called OmniCam video content will also soon be coming as second screen apps to tablets, smartphones and/or laptops.
