'House of Cards' Season 3 Release Date: Season 2 Gets 13 Emmy Nominations, Including Kevin Spacey For Best Actor [PHOTO]

Netflix's breakout hit"House of Cards" has been renewed for season 3, but no release date has been announced as of yet.

There's many theories out there, including that the show will hit Netflix in February 2015. Because season 1 was released on February 1, 2013 and season 2 hit the streaming service on February 14, 2015.

Entertainment blog Bustle notes that Orange is the New Black came back in 11 months, perhaps giving hope to viewers that "House of Cards" may return sometime in January.

"Depending on whether or not Kevin Spacey or Robin Wright pick up any statues [Emmys] this year, that could definitely affect the return of House of Cards' third season. If they do win, it seems more likely that the showrunners would push back the third season to be both pains in the asses and to create even more buzz," it said.

"My guess? I think House of Cards will return, unfortunately, later in 2015. Although we've come to expect the dark show as a February fixture, I think the sinister possibilities of a world where Frank Underwood is president will allow Netflix to make us wait just a little bit longer."

The pushback would be at least partially explained by a delay in production because of a tax credit bill, as reported earlier this year in
Deadline. Ironically enough production was nearly kept from moving forward due to a political quagmire concerning tax issues with the state of Maryland, where majority of the series is filmed.  A deal was struck after negotiations, however, allowing the cast and crew to proceed with work on the all-new episodes. The delay lasted less than a month.

Another problem presented itself when plans to shoot at the United Nations Building in New York were blocked, failing to capture the necessary approval from the UN Press Department and the representatives of the 15 member councils. UNSC coordinator for the permanent Russian delegation, Mikael Agasandyan, released a statement, saying "the Security Council premises should be available at any time and on short notice." Since this availability is not something that will be possible when production crew is allowed to take over the facility, they chose to disapprove the request. The show is expected to use an alternative location to shoot the UN scenes.

Last week, the second season of House of Cards received 13 Emmy nominations.

"House of Cards" Season 3 is believed to be starting a new story arc for the series, having already played out the main storyline of protagonist Frank Underwood's journey from majority whip to President of the United States. The show was originally written for only two seasons.

The entire production team is currently in the middle of shooting "House of Cards" Season 3, which has an expected, but not official, release date of February 2015
