'Metrico' Release Date Announced By Digital Dreams For PS Vita: Music By Palmbomen Who Did 'Grand Theft Auto 5' Music [VIDEO]

Indie PlayStation Vita platformer "Metrico" has a release date on 6th August, and developer Digital Dreams has confirmed.

"Metrico" mixes moody synth music with a dynamic environment that morphs as you progress. The game has been described as an "infographics action game." To clarify "Metrico" release date PlayStation Vita on August 5th and August 6th in North America and Europe, respectively.

Set in a world made up of bar graph-style blocks and pie chart platforms, elements shift according to the inputs you use to progress.

A button prompt to make you jump might, for example, also make a platform move further away - meaning you'll need to employ some puzzle solving to progress.

Take a look at the new gameplay footage below, originally posted to the EU PlayStation blog. Also included is a new track from the game's composer Palmbomen, a Dutch synth composer, who previously contributed music to Grand Theft Auto 5.

"It's been a crazy ride for us," said Roy van de Mrotel, Level Designer at Digital Dreams. "We laughed and cried; saw relationships begin and end; travelled the world for events; received invaluable feedback from testers; saw joy and frustration in players' eyes; met countless great games industry people along the way; moved in and out of offices; crunched with every deadline, and now we can't wait until it goes live."

Metrico was announced in March, 2013, and since then there has been a steady stream of short trailers leading up to this release date announcement.

Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Roy van de Mortel, the studio's level designer, outlined the game's unusual mechanics, though admitted that the core concept of "Metrico" is difficult to surmise based on visuals alone:

"We attempted to create a clarifying gameplay trailer using several different approaches, but it was hard and took a lot of time, so we chose to instead invest that time to work on the game. In the end, actually playing the game, experimenting with all the different forms of inputs and getting direct feedback through playing is absolutely the single best way to understand Metrico."
