Top K-Pop Act Big Bang, Girls' Generation, EXO, And More To Face Off In June Comeback Showdown

Idols will reign the month of June in South Korea.

Several of K-pop's most popular idol groups announced comebacks for June, kicking off the second half of 2015 with songs that will vy for top place on Korean music charts and on weekly competition shows. 

The trend of K-pop dominating Korean music charts in May will continue into June, when some of the biggest idol groups in Korea making comebacks.

YG Entertainment's Big Bang and SM Entertainment's EXO kick off the first round of competition the first week of June. Big Bang announced the June 1 release of double singles "Bang Bang Bang" and "We Like 2 Party," while June 3 introduces the release of EXO's repackage album, "Love Me Right." The two male idol groups are some of the most popular acts from Korea's top two entertainment companies.

MBLAQ will join the boy band competition, and release their eighth mini album "Mirror" on June 9. "Mirror" is the group's first album with three members after two members left the group in 2015 following the expiration of their contracts.  

Along with the set comebacks, Girls' Generation and 2PM also plan comebacks for June 2015 but have not revealed set plans. 2PM's comeback was delayed after complications with the group's music video but JYP Entertainment confirmed the group's June comeback, while Girls' Generation's members were seen in May with concept changes allegedly in preparation of a June comeback.

Sistar, Girl's Day, A Pink, GFRIEND, A KOR, 9Muses, and Teen Top are also rumored to participate in the June competition.

The news of multiple top K-pop acts making comebacks in South Korea in June comes on the heels of the summer of 2015 introducing more Korean acts than ever before to North America, reflecting the spread of the Korean Wave internationally.
