FTISLAND's Lee Hongki Commemorates SS501's 10th Anniversary While Celebrating FTISLAND's

While celebrating his band's anniversary, FTISLAND's Lee Hongki sent a shoutout on Instagram to another K-pop act celebrating its anniversary.

Shortly after midnight on June 8 in Korea, FTISLAND's vocalist Lee Hongki took to Instagram to thank fans for well wishes regarding his band's eighth anniversary. He also took the chance to celebrate SS501's anniversary. 

SS501's tenth anniversary is on June 8, ten years after the group debuted in 2005. 

Lee showed his support for the idol group, which debuted two years before his own FTISLAND. He shared a selfie, and then wrote the message to fans of both FTISLAND and SS501.

"Thank you!" Lee wrote in regards to fans celebrating FTISLAND's anniversary.

"And to my SS501 hyungs [older brothers/male friends," Lee continued, "Truly congratulations! I got drunk!"

He finished the message with the Korean characters for "heehee."

Within four hours of the message being shared, the picture had garnered nearly 40,000 likes on Instagram. 

Many fans expressed thanks towards Lee Hongki commemorating SS501's anniversary, despite the group being on hiatus. Others tagged SS501 member's official Instagram accounts. 

"I just can't," wrote user LuisaJun09 after seeing Hongki's message. "SS501 was my first K-pop group and I love FTISLAND too. This is so nice." 

Members of both groups also commemorated the anniversaries. Several SS501 members also celebrated the milestone by sharing pictures together, while FTISLAND's members held a fanmeeting and took to social media to connect with fans.

[Update] Later in the day, Kim Kyu Jong of SS501 shared a picture on Facebook thanking fans for supporting SS501 for years. At the end of the post, he sent a congratulatory message to FTISLAND.
