'BTS Meal' Surpasses 1.2 Million Units Sold in South Korea

The "BTS Meal" is a real hit!

On June 23, KST, McDonald's announced the total accumulated sales of the "BTS Meal," their recent collaboration with the K-Pop superstars, BTS, in South Korea.

According to the fast food chain, the "BTS Meal" had surpassed 1.2 million units sold just a month after the meal's release back on May 27 in the country.

The "BTS Meal" consists of a 10-piece chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a medium Coke, and the Cajun and Sweet Chili dipping sauces that were inspired by the popular recipes from the McDonald's in South Korea. In addition, the packaging of the meal is inspired by BTS' signature color - purple - as well as their official logo and coined term "보라해" (Borahae or "I Purple You").

According to reports, McDonald's sold an average of 50,000 "BTS Meal" units per day, this marks the first time for the mega fast-food chain to sell more than a million units for a set that only consists of a side menu with no burger in just a short amount of time.

The chicken McNuggets included in the set also proved to be widely popular, as the average daily sales of the product in South Korea from May 27 to June 21 increased by around 250 percent as compared to the four weeks prior to the release of the "BTS Meal."

An official from McDonald's in South Korea said that customers of all ages have enjoyed the meal since the "BTS Meal" was released.

In addition, McDonald's also released a "BTS x McDonald's" collaboration merchandise collection. The "Logo Collection" features a purple robe, white T-shirt, silicone pouch, keyring, hoodie, towel, laptop pouch, umbrella, and masking tape, which you can check out here.

The "BTS Meal" is currently sold in 50 countries around the world as part of the fast-food chain's celebrity meal promotions and will be available for a month following its release. BTS is the third celebrity to have their own meal at McDonald's after Colombian singer J Balvin and American rapper Travis Scott.

The "BTS Meal" is currently available in these select countries: South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Israel, Malaysia, Paraguay, Latvia, St. Maarten, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Oman, India (Mumbai), Honduras, Singapore, UAE, Vietnam, Malta, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, India (Delhi), Panama, Bahrain, Cyprus, Qatar, Hong Kong, Macau, Morocco, Estonia, Lithuania, Taiwan, Romania, El Salvador, Guatemala, Suriname, Philippines, and Indonesia.
