11+ Confusing Terms Related to aespa You Need to Know: 'SYNK,' 'KWANGYA,' 'POS'

Even after about two years since aespa's debut, there are still K-pop fans who get confused on the terms related to their worldview, including "KWANGYA," "P.O.S," "SYNK" and more. Fret not! We compiled 11+ terms and their meaning that you need to know to understand their concept better!  

Here Are 11+ Terms Related to aespa You Need to Know!

1. KWANGYA

The "KWANGYA" is the core concept of SM Culture Universe (SMCU), SM's own "worldview."

Some claim that KWANGYA is a virtual space or a multidimensional world, while others say that it is SM's new building in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.

2. SMCU

This is a complex cultural project that connects SM artists' worldviews to give fans immersion and new enjoyment, which began in October 2020. It covers cartoons, animations, webtoons, motion graphics, and avatars. There is even a department dedicated to this worldview.

3. ae

ae means an existence created based on human-provided digital data, that is, an avatar. In some cases, the human and it's ae interact such as aespa.

4. Flat

This is a virtual world where ae lives.

5. SYNK

The synk is the connection between the human and ae. At first, if you start with a message and interact with more feelings and thoughts with the latter, the synk level will also rise. As a result, the ae may enter the real world also called REKALL.

6. SYNK OUT

However, increasing synk level is not that easy because of SYNK OUT, the state where humans and ae were disconnected because of P.O.S.

7. REKALL

This is a phenomenon in which the ae comes to the real world due to the continuous rise in their synk level.

8. P.O.S

P.O.S (port of soul) is a passage between the flat and the real world. Before ae were known, P.O.S was considered sinkholes and it is still unknown how P.O.S can be opened voluntarily.

9. Naevis

Naevis, who was introduced in aespa's songs is an artificial intelligence system that helps humans and ae connect. It is yet to be revealed if naevis is actually the representation of fans, or represents a certain SM Entertainment artist.

10. Black Mamba

Black Mamba is an obstacle to the synk of humans and ae, and now it is wandering in the KWANGYA. They are also considered to be villains in aespa's worldview.

11. KOSMO

KOSMO is the space beyond aespa that even they can't reach.

12. aenergy

A song of aespa, this term also describes the positive energy or the potential level of the four-member group which comes from their sound and melody.

13. SYNK DIVE

Contrary to synk out, synk dive is the state where humans and ae were connected and synchronized while being in their conscious state.

14. MY

aespa's fandom, MYs, are the friends of the human aespa in KWANGYA.
