Netflix released the first official trailer for "BTS: The Return" on Monday, a feature-length documentary that follows all seven members of the South Korean supergroup as they reunite in Los Angeles to create their long-awaited comeback album "ARIRANG" after completing their mandatory military service.

The 102-second trailer offers a deeply personal look at RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook as they navigate the challenges of returning to music after nearly three years apart.

The clip blends intimate studio footage with reflective voice-overs from the members, showing them grappling with questions about identity, legacy, and what it means to be BTS in a rapidly evolving music industry.

"In the military, time just passed by," RM says in the trailer, according to Rolling Stone. "But here in LA, you really feel the impermanence of time. And we're trying to find out what makes us BTS." Another emotional moment comes when Jimin declares, "We are finally back where we're meant to be," as reported by Billboard.

The documentary is directed by Bao Nguyen, the acclaimed filmmaker behind "The Stringer" and "The Greatest Night in Pop," and is produced by This Machine in partnership with HYBE, the entertainment company behind BTS.

According to a Netflix press release cited by Rolling Stone, the film depicts "resilience, camaraderie, and transformation" as the group confronts "how to start anew, how to honor the past without being constrained by it, and how to progress together."

The members relocated to Los Angeles in mid-2025 after all seven had completed their military duties, with Suga being the last to finish in June 2025.

According to Rolling Stone, the group lived together in a shared home for two months, their first time in the same location since 2015, and worked six days a week with mornings dedicated to physical training and afternoons spent in the studio.

"BTS: The Return" will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Mar. 27, one week after "Arirang" drops on March 20. The album is BTS's fifth studio effort and their first full-group release in over three years.

A live comeback concert titled "BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG," filmed at Seoul's Gwanghwamun Square, will also stream on Netflix on Mar. 21, as per allkpop.
