Stars With Criminal Indictments Making Their Comebacks

Will the early comeback of stars who were criminally prosecuted be good or bad in the long run?

Park Si Hoo, who was accused of sexual harassment, and Park Si Yeon, who was indicted, prosecuted, and received a sentence for taking illegal drugs, are attempting to comeback after a brief period of rest. Park Si Hoo will be marking his upcoming movie, while Park Si Yeon is resuming her career by appearing as an ad model.

Park Si Hoo appeared on March 26th for the announcement of his upcoming Chinese movie, "Scent". Over 250 fans and reporters from more than 70 news sites appeared for the event. Park Si Hoo is planning on marketing his movie "Scent" in Korea and China over the coming summer. He was indicted for alleged sexual harassment in February of 2013. He was slated to appear in a Korean drama last February, but he opted to appear in the movie "Scent" instead.

Park Si Yeon has resumed her career by appearing as the spokesperson for a chain of dessert cafe. She was indicted, prosecuted, and sentenced to 8 months in jail and 2 years of parole.

The fact that the two stars are resuming their careers without a recognition of their wrongdoing or expressed personal apologies is not being received well by the entertainment industry.

"Even if the law has absolved them," speaks a prominent member of the Korean entertainment industry, "stars are just regular people who are elevated by the love given to them by fans. It's unfair to the people who showed them enough love to get them this far into their careers by showing them devotion as fans. It's a shame that they are choosing not to address the fans concerning the issue. Whether they like it or not, they are public figures, and they should address this matter publicly before choosing to move on."

It does seem irresponsible of these stars to just pretend that nothing happened. Time will tell whether they succeed in their comebacks, but here's hoping that they make the situation right before moving on from the scandals that they caused.
