Stan Wawrinka Dives Into US Open 2014 Crowd, Advances Into Quarter Finals After Beating Tommy Robredo: Will Face Kei Nishikori Or Milos Raonic

Stan Wawrinka really gave his all in the 4th round game against Tommy Robredo at the US Open 2014. He even dived into the US Open 2014 crowd return the ball! For a short time, there was an injury scare, but Stan Wawrinka brushed off the little tumble and got back in the game. He will either face Kei Nishikori or Milos Raonic in the quarter finals of US Open 2014!

When asked how he felt after the dive into the court box, Stan Wawrinka said, “From that I’m okay. I’m a little tired from all the running.”

Looks like the Swiss tennis player is made of steel!

For the 29-year-old player, he is at the peak of his game. Though it came a little late in his career, he has been able to really clench onto the opportunity. Stan the Man, as his fans like to call him, is now world number 3, right behind Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. Seeing how just a few years ago Stan Wawrinka was known for being the doubles partner for his compatriot, he has indeed come a long way!

Stan Wawrinka beat the Spanish Tommy Robredo in a very close four setter, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2.

The Swiss made a lot of unforced errors, resulting in a 3-hour long game, but he was able to pick himself up again and get back in the swing of things, really dominating the last set against Tommy Robredo.

Stan Wawrinka is excited to play in the US Open 2014 quarter finals, but he knows that the journey is still long. When asked if he will go back to his hotel room and watch the Kei Nishikori vs. Milos Raonic game, he rolled his eyes and said “Maybe.”

He will face Japanese Kei Nishikori or Canadian Milos Raonic in two days time.

Congratulations Stan Wawrinka! Maybe he will meet his doubles partner Roger Federer in the finals.
