XVALA 'Art' Show To Feature Jennifer Lawrence Hacked Photos: Will 'Silver Linings Playbook' Star Press Charges?

As if Jennifer Lawrence didn’t have enough to worry about with her hacked nude photos being leaked all over the internet, it looks like the pictures will now be featured in an exhibit at the Cory Allen Contemporary Art (CACA) gallery in LA. Self-described “artist” XVALA plans to include the photos, as well as similarly hacked nudes of Kate Upton, unaltered and printed life sized on canvas, in his upcoming show titled No Delete. Both Lawrence and Upton have expressed interest in taking legal action against anyone who publishes or reproduces the images so the question is: will they be able to stop the show from taking place? Or at least press charges of some kind if it does?

XVALA said in a press release about the show, “We share our secrets with technology, and when we do, our privacy becomes accessible to others.” He goes on, “In todays culture, everybody wants to know everything about everybody. An individual’s privacy has become everyone else’s business. It has become cash for cache.”

XVALA is known for publishing, and sometimes adding to, embarrassing photos of celebrities taken by other people. His past work has included putting a paparazzi shot of Brittney Spears with a shaved head in a reproduction of a 17-century Italian frame, and creating prints of leaked nudes of Scarlett Johansson, with the phrase “fear Google” covering her privates. Both works will be included in the exhibit, as will sculptures made from the trash of celebrities such as Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Kim Kardashian.

Lawrence recently ran into some resistance when trying to get her images removed from porn websites, when one platform reportedly contested her claim that she owns the copyright to all of the images. The site allegedly argued that since some of the photos were taken by someone other than the actress, she must either prove that she is their rightful owner, or give them the name of the person who is. It is unclear at this point what Lawrence’s legal team plans to do next in regard to that particular conflict, but the case could set legal precedent that would determine whether or not XVALA’s show is allowed to run.
