Actress Misty Upham’s Cause Of Death Revealed? Did ‘August Osage County’ Star Slip Down Ravine While Hiding From Police?

Misty Upham's family believes that the 32-year-old actress, whose body was discovered on Thursday, died after accidentally falling down a ravine in Auburn, Washington.

The Upham family claims that Misty was likely hiding from local police officers when she allegedly slipped and fell to her death.

"We believe that Misty's death was accidental," the actress's father Charles Upham wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. "She did not commit suicide. We believe she ran into the wooded area behind her apartment to hide from the police...evidence suggests that she slipped and fell off the steep embankment when she tried to get out of view from the road."

Misty Upham, who was known for her roles in "August Osage County" and "Frozen River" was reported missing by her father on Oct. 6. The actress's body was discovered on Thursday, Oct. 16 by a search party led by her uncle Robert Upham.

In the family's Facebook message, Upham's father writes that "Misty was afraid of the Auburn PD for good reason."

According to the post, the actress had been picked up by the Auburn PD on a prior occasion in which the authorities took her "on an involuntary transport to the ER."

Charles Upham writes that his daughter was taunted and teased by officers during that incident.

Misty's father also indicates in the post that he believes his daughter was not taking her medication for a mental condition.

The family has been critical about the Auburn police department's treatment of the situation. It was reported that the Auburn PD did not place Misty on the missing person's list because she did not meet the criteria of a missing person according to Washington state regulations.

Auburn Police Commander Steve Stocker told NBC, "We did everything we could in this case."

Upham's family does not agree.

"It is tragic that the Auburn PD refused to help offer to find or at least change her missing status to 'Endangered' to allow other agencies to get involved," wrote Charles. "But the real tragedy is this could have been prevented on a lot of levels."

According to the King County Medical Examiner's office, the "cause and manner of death are pending."

A vigil for Uphram's family and community will be held on Sunday in Auburn, WA.

Additionally, a memorial fund has been set up in Misty's honor.
