Misty Upham Confirmed Dead: Body Of ‘August Osage County’ Actress Discovered, Stars Send Messages Of Condolence

Tragic news.

Actress Misty Upham, who was reported missing on Oct. 6, has been confirmed dead.

A spokesperson for the "August Osage County" actress's family told The Hollywood Reporter that a body found in a Seattle, Washington ravine on Thursday was indeed Upham.

According to Tracy Rector, a Seattle-based filmmaker who had worked with Upham, the late actress's body was discovered by her uncle, Robert Upham, who led a search party to find his niece. Upham's body was then identified by her father Charles.

"We waited at the site where the team found the body," Rector told THR. "It took about five-and-a-half hours to confirm. Then we gathered around her body to say prayers and now we're all gathered at the church."

The 32-year-old actress was reported missing over two weeks ago by her father, who eventually told THR that he believed his daughter might have been suicidal after failing to take her medication for bipolar disorder.

However, reportedly Rector stated on Thursday evening that the Upham family does not believe the Native American actress took her own life.

"The family has stated that, after seeing the body, they still do not feel that Misty Upham committed suicide," said Rector.

"At this point we do not have any evidence or information to believe there is foul play."

Rector also indicated that the Upham family is furious with the Auburn Police Department, which they claim did nothing to help find Misty after she went missing.

"First and foremost," said Rector, "the family wants everyone to know that the Auburn police did not help with this situation at all. They refused to help. When she disappeared on Oct. 5, the family knew something was seriously wrong - it was out of character for her to be gone so long without being in touch - and they repeatedly went to the police, who insisted there was no cause for concern."

An official cause of death for Upham has yet to be announced, although a representative for the Auburn Police Department reportedly told E! News that there was no evidence at this time to believe there was any foul play.

"So, so sad to hear this news-all our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit," Oscar winner Meryl Streep told the Hollywood Reporter on Friday. Streep co-starred with Upham in "August Osage County."

Juliette Lewis, another co-star of Upham's from the film also expressed her grief to the publication.

"I cant sleep. Too much darkness. I feel so sad about Misty. I know she has more to say. And about how she died. #RIPMistyUpham," said Lewis.

Melissa Leo, who starred alongside Upham in "Frozen River," also shared her thoughts on the actress's death with The Hollywood Reporter.

"Such a loss...so sad, so so sad," said the Oscar winner.
