Crayon Pop's Hit Single 'Bar Bar Bar' Featured On New ABC Sitcom 'Selfie'

Crayon Pop's song "Bar Bar Bar" was featured on an American network show, Selfie.

On the October 21 episode of ABC's new sitcom, Selfie, the main characters danced to Crayon Pop's hit song. Selfie stars Korean-American actor John Cho and Scottish actress Karen Gillan, and the show made use of Cho's Korean roots to play the song. The song played for around thirty seconds.

Upon hearing the first few bars of "Bar Bar Bar," Cho's character disdainfully says "Oh, I get it, because I'm Korean, you think I like K-Pop." Despite his initial protests, Cho and Gillan break into dance as they enjoy the music.

Selfie premiered on September 30, and is about Eliza Doola (Gillan,) a woman obsessed with social media. She has no real social skills, and seeks advice from a marketing wiz, Henry Higgs, to help her re-create her online and in-person image.

The show is based on Bernard Shaw's famous play, Pygmalian. John Cho plays the role equated to Henry Higgins, and Gillan's role is based on the Cockney flower-girl turned proper lady, Eliza Dolittle. My Fair Lady is based on the same play.

"Bar Bar Bar" has over 22 million hits on YouTube, and was one of the most popular Korean songs of 2013. It reached first place on Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 chart. The song went up against EXO's hit song, "Growl," and won first place on August 30 on Music Bank. The song was covered and parodied by multiple Korean idols.

"Bar Bar Bar" first aired on American television during an episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show when a pair of Taiwanese twins, Yony and Zony, danced to the song. Crayon Pop also performed "Bar Bar Bar" at the 2013 MAMA award ceremony with Ylvis, known for "What Does The Fox Say?"

Selfie airs on NBCon Tuesday nights. The episode that features "Bar Bar Bar" can be viewed on ABC's website.
