Photos Of CL In The Studio With Diplo & Skrillex Hint At An Epic EDM Song For Her U.S. Debut
On November 21, a photo depicting 2NE1’s CL in the music studio was posted on Instagram. CL is pictured with electronic dance music stars Diplo and Skrillex.
The photo was posted to the Instagram account of @chelsaves, whose account byline states that she “works in music.” The photo was captioned as "Bunny making hit records @skrillex @chaelincl @diplo."
Skrillex also posted an addition photo on his Instagram on November 21 which he captioned, "big trouble lil Korea."
This followed a photo posted by Skrillex on November 20 in his he stated, “Studio with @chaelincl , this much fire should be illegal.”
CL, who is the midst of preparation for her upcoming U.S. solo release, has previously worked with Skrillex and Diplo. On October 28, CL performed with Diplo for the Style Icon Awards. The stage was a montage which included her 2NE1 hit “MTBD,” along with the Diplo track “Revolution,” and “Dirty Vibe.”
“Dirty Vibe” was released in March 2014, as part of the Skrillex album “Recess.” The song was a collaborative effort between Skrillex, CL, Big Bang’s G-Dragon, and Diplo.
If the inclusion of Diplo and Skrillex are any indication, her upcoming solo release may feature EDM-influenced songs. YG Entertainment’s artists have had repeated success with EDM, GD x Taeyang’s “Good Boy” serving as the most recent example.
In preparation for her solo debut in America, CL recently signed with talent manager Scooter Braun. His company, SB Projects, also manages PSY but is noted for its management of Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.
CL’s upcoming solo debut is highly anticipated. News of her solo debut came on the heels of increased attention within the United States for the 2NE1 song “I Am The Best,” following its inclusion in a Microsoft commercial.
