MAMAMOO Solar Flashes Middle Finger to Fans — Idol Garners Unexpected Reactions

Following a fan event, MAMAMOO Solar became a hot topic for flipping off fans. How did MooMoos react to this?

On April 30, Solar returned as a solo artist and unveiled her 2nd mini-album, "COLOURS," along with its title track, "But I." The album also consists of 5 b-sidetracks: "Colors," "Empty," "Honey Honey," "Easy Peasy," and "Blues."

But among the tracklist, the song, "Colors," is receiving hot responses for its confident message and unconventional choreography that includes whacking, voguing, sashays and more.

It also drew massive attention for its empowering lyrics.

"Look in the mirror and pose. So damn fine. And say it, ‘I’m sick, so bad.’ Louder, louder. ‘I’m sick, I’m hot, I’m gorgeous, so bad.'"

If you think this is unique enough, what made the whole performance shocking was due to its choreography, which involves flashing the middle finger to the camera.

Unfortunately, this original dance step was censored in the video, as well as banned from music shows, leading her to revise it into a "throat-slitting" gesture.

However, during a recent event, MooMoos had a fan event with Solar and during her stage for "Colors," the idol showed off her confident and alluring era performing the song.

But as she got carried away, Solar mistakenly did the original "middle finger" choreo and after realizing it, she was flustered and immediately bowed her head to fans.

In K-pop history, idols who flashed middle fingers in either an event or photos were heavily criticized as this is not only extremely disrespectful to fans, but it is also not a good example for younger fans.

Eventually, Solar's video spread on various social media platforms including X and TikTok, highlighting the time she flipped off fans.

However, contrary to the usual reactions, rather than criticism, MooMoos are reacting differently to Solar's mistake!

Rather than asking for the idol's apology, the fandom was indeed raised differently as they are asking for Solar to do it again in front of the fans, treating it like some achievement and honor to be flicked off by her.

On the other hand, after dropping, "COLOURS, Solar's first album in 2 years, it ranked first on the iTunes "Top Album" chart in five countries and regions around the world immediately after its release on Apr. 30th.

The album also ranked 4th on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and 10th on the European iTunes Album Chart, proving Solar's global influence.

The response to the title song "But I" is also hot, as it entered the top 10 of the iTunes "Top Song" chart in 7 countries around the world, while the included songs "Colors" and "Blues" also ranked high on the iTunes "Top Song" chart in various regions.
