JYP Congratulates Psy on His Global Success, 'Late but Touching'

By Staff Writer | October 05, 2012 10:35 AM EDT

Singer and CEO Park Jin Young was late on congratulating Psy on ranking number 2 on the Billboard chart.

Park Jin Young wrote on his twitter today, "Jae Sang! I didn't have my phone or internet while I was away and just now heard the good news! I recorded a support message from 'Gangnam Style' before I  left and who knew that when I came back that you are number 2 on the Billboard! You did what some people might be able to do in a couple years! Congrats! Your life is such a drama! I will call you soon!"

Psy replied to his tweet with, "Brother! When are we going to see each other? Call me soon!"

Park Jin Young and Psy previously had differing opinions on global success. An online community board had posted pictures of Park Jin Young on a show explaining that something 'Korean' would not necessarily mean global success.

Another capture showed Psy during an interview of him stating that being Korean and showing pride in his country is what makes it such a global success.

Park Jin Young's philosophy on global success did not turn out as planned. In the case of the Wonder Girls, they ventured out to the U.S. and put on a show singing in english and making an unoriginal music video.

On the other hand, Psy simply put up his music video that showed his personality and style and in days he was a global star. There were thousands of parodies and flash mobs for "Gangnam Style" whereas the Wonder Girls made a flash mob with their own music video.

Internet users commented, "I didn't know the two were friends" and "Park Jin Young is probably jealous of Psy's success."

Psy has recently become a global sensation with his song, "Gangnam Style." He has ranked number 1 on iTunes in 30 countries and has ranked number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Main Single Chart 'HOT 100'.

He has appeared on many shows such as the "Ellen Show" and "SNL" and featured on news programs such as NBC and CNN.

His music video has been the most viewed on Youtube as well with over 350 million views.

He has also recently signed a contract with Justin Bieber's agency and plans to release his first U.S. single sometime in November.
