Emma Watson Introduces New Initiative At World Economic Forum In Davos, Further Urges Gender Equality [PHOTO]

This past Friday, Emma Watson unveiled a new gender equality initiative at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The "Noah" actress followed up her famous HeForShe speech by introducing Impact 10x10x10 in an effort to further gender equality.

According to USA Today, Watson was chosen to be a UN Women goodwill ambassador last July, and has been championing the HeForShe campaign. HeForShe is a solidarity movement that calls upon men and boys to stand up against the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally. The campaign strengthens the support for women's rights as human rights by enlisting the support of men and exhorting them to put themselves forward as advocates for gender equality.

Impact 10x10x10 differs in its target audience. According to UN Women, the initiative is a "one-year pilot effort that aims to engage governments, corporations, and universities as instruments of change positioned within some of the communities that most need to address deficiencies in women's empowerment and gender equality."

Watson is very adamant about the fact that women have "untapped potential" in society. According to the Huffington Post, she stated, "Women share this planet 50/50 and they are underrepresented - their potential astonishingly untapped...It is my belief that there is a greater understanding than ever that women need to be equal participants in our homes, in our societies, in our governments and in our workplaces.  And they know that the world is being held back in every way because they are not."

She made sure to address all the men at the Forum, stating, "CEOs: Have you implemented the women's empowerment principles in your own company? What change have you seen? Are you someone persuading men to become HeForShes and collecting their signatures for our website? How many have you got? We want to know. We want to hear from you."
